CUP USAGE HELP

I'm having trouble inserting WomxCup

  • Inserting a menstrual cup correctly takes time, patience, and practice. We recommend you to try out different folds mentioned in the user manual

Following are some of the folds you can try:

  • C Fold (also known as the U Fold):

This is the most commonly recommended fold by menstrual cup companies. However, when folded, it is also one of the widest at the point of insertion, and can therefore be too wide and difficult for some to insert.

1. Take your cup and fold it in half so that the lips touch together.

2. Slowly bend the cup in half again lengthwise.

3. You will see that the point of insertion looks like a C (or U depending on how you are holding it).

  • Punchdown Fold (also known as the Shell Fold):

This one is WomxCup recommended as it creates one of the smallest areas of insertion. It is wider at the base than some other folds, and some can find it difficult to make this fold ‘pop open’ correctly. Try inserting this fold partway, letting it open, and then pushing in the remainder.

  1. Hold your menstrual cup.

  2. Use your thumb to push the lip of the cup down towards the base of the cup.

  3. Then remove your thumb as you squeeze the edges together.

  • 7 Fold (also known as the Triangle Fold)

This menstrual cup fold makes a smaller insertion area than the C fold and usually pops open easier than the punch-down fold. This is one of the favored techniques by younger menstruators and those who have difficulty inserting their menstrual cup.

  1. Fold your menstrual cup in half so that the lips touch.

  2. Now pull down the right side, to form a ‘7’ shape with the lips of the cup.

  3. To make the Triangle version, bring the right corner right down towards the base of the cup, to create a triangular shape.

  • Origami Fold

This is another popular fold, since it is small to insert (like the punch-down fold), but pops open easily (like the 7 fold).

  1. Holding your menstrual cup upright, push the front lip halfway down inside the cup (not quite as far as in the Punchdown fold).

  2. Now take the right corner of the cup and bring it down to the base of the left side.

I'm having trouble removing WomxCup

WomxCup cannot get stuck or disappear inside you, but it can move up slightly. If you are having difficulties reaching the base or stem of the cup, we recommend that you try the following:

  • Relax your body, and try to remove the cup while you sit in a squat position.

  • Sit down on the toilet seat and reach the pull-cord.

  • Grasp the stem and gently pull the cord out which releases the suction and makes the removal effortless.

My WomxCup is leaking

  • If your WomxCup is leaking, it may have not been correctly inserted.
There can be various reasons for leakage:

  •  WomxCup didn’t open properly

Clench your pelvic muscles after inserting the cup to help release it and create the suction seal. You should also try to twist the cup back and forth and run your finger around the bottom of the cup to check if it has opened properly.

  • Inserting WomxCup from the wrong angle

Make sure to insert your WomxCup at a 45-degree angle pointing towards your spine, as this will be the most common and natural shape of your vaginal canal.

  • Leakage due to improper positioning

WomxCup should be placed a bit lower than a regular tampon. Your cervix isn’t necessarily located at the top of your vaginal canal. It can be positioned at an angle or to the side. It can also move higher and lower throughout your cycle. If the rim of your cup isn’t below your cervix, it will most likely leak. So you need to locate your cervix, which you do by feeling for a slightly firmer area of tissue in your vagina.

  • The air holes are clogged

Ensure that the 4 small air-holes aren’t clogged, as this may prevent a good seal. To clear the holes:

  1. Clean the air holes with a small brush.

  2. Fill your WomxCup with warm water.

  3. Put the palm of your hand on top of the cup covering it completely and squeeze the base until the water escapes through the air holes, unblocking them in the process.

CUP QUESTIONS

 Can virgins use WomxCup?

  • Yes, you can. In fact, you can start using a menstrual cup as soon as you get your period. Young menstruators’ vaginal muscles tend to be tighter, which can make insertion a bit more difficult. Therefore, you might want to practice in the beginning.

  • Fun fact: Virginity is just a social construct and it takes much more than a menstrual cup to break your hymen.

For how long can I wear the WomxCup?

  • WomxCup can stay inside you for up to 12 hours before it needs to be emptied and rinsed. This means you can wear one when you're sleeping, or all day long.

  • You may need to empty your cup more often if your flow is at its heaviest, but you can use the same cup for your lighter days too.

Can I use Womxcup with prolapse or tilted uterus?

  • Prolapse:

Since the degree of prolapse can vary greatly, we advise you to talk to your gynecologist about whether a cup will suit you.

  • Tilted uterus:

Most menstruators with a retroverted / tilted uterus can use the WomxCup, however, it may be a bit more difficult for you to find the optimal position for it once inserted. Therefore, we recommend that you use a pad the first couple of times till you’re certain to have found the best position for the WomxCup.

  • Some might not be able to use the WomxCup with a retroverted/tilted uterus. If you are experiencing issues with leakage or discomfort, please contact us.

Will the blood flow back into my uterus or flow around inside me?

  • No, you can even do a headstand with WomxCup inside you! And it still won’t flow back inside your womb. The blood flows into the vagina and thus into the cup through the tiny hole in the cervix. The muscles of the uterus push the menstrual blood out actively from the uterus.

Can Womxcup get stuck or disappear inside me?

  • There’s only one way out!

  • The cup can’t disappear inside you, but it can move up slightly.

  • Your vaginal canal is not an endless nor even a cavernous space; it's actually pretty narrow with a comforting dead end at your cervix.

  • So, it is impossible for your cup to be swallowed up by your body or to get lost in there.

  • Once it's in, there's only one place for it to go – out.

In case you find it difficult to reach, it may be due to tensed muscles. So, calm down and try again in a different position.

Can I perform sports (running, swimming, horseback riding, yoga, etc.) while wearing Womxcup?

  • You definitely can! WomxCup is fantastic if you have an active lifestyle. So you can swim, run, do yoga, and scuba dive without any worry.

  • Once the cup is positioned correctly you won’t feel a thing – as it gives you comfortable and leak-free period protection for up to 12 hours at a time.

Can I use Womxcup while having sex?

  • Penetrative sex, inserting sex toys, or fingering, is not possible while wearing a cup. If you want to have penetrative sex on your period, just remove your menstrual cup.

  • If you want to continue to wear your menstrual cup, try exploring other types of intimacy.

Can I use Womxcup while traveling?

  • WomxCup is ideal for traveling because it can be worn for 10-12 hours at a time, depending on your flow.

Can I pee while using the cup?

  • Yes, you can!
The cup goes inside your vagina, and you pee from your urethra. So there is no interference.

  • The menstrual cup doesn’t collect your urine.

HYGIENE, SAFETY & CARE

Questions regarding safety, hygiene, and how to take care of WomxCup.

How do I clean my Womxcup?

  • During menstruation, simply rinse your WomxCup with water when you empty the cup and before reinsertion. You don’t need to sterilize your cup between uses while on your period.

  • You will need to sterilize your WomxCup after your period is done:

Boil the WomxCup in a pot of water for 5-7 minutes.

How do I clean WomxCup in public toilets?

  • Simply empty the contents of the menstrual cup in the toilet, then wipe the cup with a damp or dry toilet paper or a tissue.

  • Be sure to remove any pieces of tissue that may have been stuck to the cup before you reinsert it. Take a small bottle of water with you to rinse it.

 How long can Womxcup last?

  • WomxCup can last up to 10 years.

  • If you wish, you can replace your cup every fifth year. Anyway, you’ll be spending way less money than you would on disposable period products and you’ll save the environment from a great deal of waste!

  • After a while of usage, the cup might get slightly discolored and that’s completely fine.

Can I use Womxcup with an IUD?

  • Using menstrual cups with either an IUD or the ring is supposedly safe. However, we recommend that you consult with your doctor before starting to use a menstrual cup with an IUD.

 What is Womxcup made of?

  • WomxCup is made of 100% medical grade silicone and lots of love!

 Where is Womxcup made?

  • Proudly made in Mumbai

 Is Womxcup cruelty-free?

  • Yes! We assure you, we do not test on animals

Can I get Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) by using Womxcup?

  • TSS is caused by the release of toxins from an overgrowth of bacteria called ‘staph’, which is found in many women's bodies. Toxic shock syndrome affects menstruating women, especially those who use super-absorbent products. The body responds with a sharp drop in blood pressure that deprives organs of oxygen and can lead to death.

  • As with any period care product, you cannot have zero risk of TSS. But a clean, properly-used menstrual cup means the chances are very small.

  • Menstrual cups are safe to use. As with any period care product, it is absolutely necessary to keep it clean, don’t leave it in too long and use a trusted brand.

  • With Womxncup, you’re in safe hands. Our cups are made from the highest medical grade silicone and is chemical-free!
